Mid Nordic ElectricTour

Here we provide you with details of the daily performance.

The details of the Daily planning is shown under events!

Elektra Trainer, the worlds best performing certified electric airplane is departing from EDSR (RADOLFZELL) to Mid Sweden and Norway and then back to EDSR (Radolfzell) in order to demonstrate its long range capabilities and its suitability to already existing airport charging infrastructure and logistical procedures within the Green Flyway Project .

With this Mid Nordic Tour planned from 09.09. through 24.09.2026 we also gather information of and check the local electric infrastructure at international and national airports as well as smaller airfields. The results will be published on this websites, too.

First Day 09.09. was modified due to Check of the charging-system and bad weather forecast for southern Germany. Take off therefore already on Sept. 08th to EDJA (Memmingen). In the hangar 40 the charging-tests went successfull.

After checking the chargers and recharging the batteries, the onward flight to EDMH took place. There I was warmly welcomed by flight instructor Rainer and other club members. The Elektra Trainer was allowed to stay in the hangar overnight and was charged there. A comfortable guest room was available to me in the clubhouse. Now it remains to be seen when the weather on 9/9 will permit the onward flight.

The pilotsroom was as comfortable as a 3star hotel room. The unexpected invoice came later per E-Mail 🙁

Komfortable

Weather was fine next morning after having seen some thunderstorms south of the field. Therefore earlier as planed the trip northbound could be continued.

Vorbei an Coburg

Next stop as planned at EDBA, Arnstadt 09.09. ATA 11:14 Zulu (UTC)

EDBA
Knollenblätterpilz

The area was a little bit dangerous due to the many mushrooms. You better don’t eat them. A cat was asking to come with me. Unfortunately I had to leave her back.

Blind pax

In the afternoon of 09.09.2026 I took off to Stendal, EDOV, arriving there short before sunset at 19:13 local time.

Stendal is a huge former military air field, being used by flight schools for training camps (primary and aerobatic) as well as by Idaflieg, the roof-organisation of academic flight groups, Germany.

In the morning

Fortunately I could get a room in the gliders home and having breakfast with some students and Olli their instructor. Next day, the 10th of Sept. I had the choice either to stay another day or to stay overnight in the next stop at Barth (EDBH) or to be one day too early in Sweden.

After an early finish of recharging and harmonizing with Malmö Flygklubb, I decided to leave at 14:33 Zulu to Malmö (ESMS), filed the flight Plan and jumped over the Estsea.

Ostseeküste

Heavy Wind 290°/20kt slowed down the transfer, lasting 81 min to reach downwind 35 of ESMS.

The local Flygklubb allowed me to stay at their hangar and in their clubrooms until the official welcome zeremony of Swedavia on 11. 09. 11:20 local.

STURUP Flygklubb hangar

Thenafter charging procedure and logistical processing as planned.

The firebregade got an introduction to Elektra Trainer and the specialities of handling electric drive systems.

On 12.09.2026 again flight to ESSF, Hulstfred like last time on North circuit (04.07.)

Eva and Arne welcomed me with a lunch package and small presents of Hulstfred community.

Recharging until 16:00 local time, thenafter lift off to next stop.

Surprisingly the next target airport ESSP (Norköpping) was closed today. We had to change the routing again. Since we have been in Eskilstuna already , we selected ESKN, Stockholm Skavsta as next target.

After having had rest in the airport hotel, take off nearly as planned to next location ESOL, Storvik, as last time. Slight rain and very low clouds caused SVFR and circumnavigating showers on the route. The wind direction Changed from tail- to head-wind. As a result the reserve energy was shrinking to 25% until reaching Storvik (ESOL) at about 12:30 lmt.

After participation in a birthdays ceremony of a flygklubb-member, four hours later I lifted off to next target: Sundsvall (ESNN).

Arrival at Sundsvall at 16:56 UTC after a 122 min low-level flight against headwind with still 47 min reserve energy.

Rest and charging over night in a huge hangar with integrated rooms for dinner, Sauna, sleeping,..

On 14. 09. 2026 ATA 11:25 LMT arriving on time (5 min too early) in our target destination, the Green Flyway meeting at Öresund Airport, ESNZ.

From the nearby located air field Otand (ESNM) we flew in formation with a Flight Design CTLS for video and fotoshooting in the mountains.

Low level over small lakes

A hangar for D-MESO allone was perfect service at ESNZ for charging and protection against wind and rain.

On 16./17. nine Demoflights were performed and the climate conference visited:

18th of Sept. Flight on the „NATO-route“ to ENVA, Trondheim-Varna:

Trondheim GAT 18.09.2026 at noon time.

Bad weather-forecast for the evening and next day forced me to immediately return to Sweden, one day earlier than planned.

ESNC, Hede Hedlanda a nice small airfield in the Snow-Tourist area

It was raining and freezing outside, but the comfortable stay inside the klubbhouse allowed undisturbed resting.

In the early morning I performed a Demo-Flight before the next rain arrived.

After another night in Hede the First Flight on 20th of Sept. will lead me to Sveg, ESND, another regional airport in the Jamtsland region.

After short welcome and recharging the return-trip to Germany will commence as planned: ESKD, ESOK, ESGG, ESMS.
